Why I’ve Decided To Shut Down The Hiking Society

I’m not going to bore you with all the details but I have decided that as of today The Hiking Society website, MeetUp group and social media pages will cease to exist.

It’s something I have been contemplating over the last few weeks as I really get deep into running my online clothing company – Globewalker.

I am incredibly committed to both The Hiking Society and Globewalker, but Globewalker is taking up plenty of my time and pulling me away from The Hiking Society.

Furthermore, I am very much someone who is either all in or all out as I want to be able to dedicate my entire time, and energy, without sacrificing elsewhere and doing something half-arsed.

The last few years have been a lot of fun and has allowed me to meet so many of you and so many business operators within the industry.

I have been able to lead so many wonderful trips through the MeetUp group and am glad that I was able to lead the last trip to one of my favourite places – Mitchell River.

I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to read, comment, share, like, and generally engage with the blog, MeetUp group and social media pages.

Being a blogger and a MeetUp organiser is tough work, but it is very much rewarding particularly when I receive so many messages from people looking for help and advice for their next outdoor adventure.

I treat it as a privilege that you would take the time out of your day to message me and ask me a question about a particular hike, piece of gear or to just say hello.

It really does mean the world to me.

I want to thank each and every one of my organisers (past and present) who have put in a countless amount of hours to help run, in my opinion, one of the most popular MeetUp groups in Victoria.

And while I was never able to pay you for your efforts, please know that it was always appreciated.

So thank you to each and every one of you for the past few years. It really has been awesome.

P.S Happy April Fools Day! Gotcha 😉
