We can talk all day long about how wonderful how adventures are, but if you really want to find out just how good they are keeping reading below from our adventurers own words.

Had a fabulous time in the Grampians! Perfect weekend away! Hiking to Boronia Peak was amazing. I will be going back to explore the Grampians! – Cathy, Grampians Explorer Overnight Adventure

Just completed a weekend hiking at Halls Gap with John of The Hiking Society. The weekend was very well organised, everyone was friendly and we all had a great time. Would highly recommend The Hiking Society and am looking forward to doing another hike with them soon. – Lauren, Grampians Explorer Overnight Adventure

A great weekend on the ‘Prom’. Packed so much into the weekend. Highlights were the Big Drift and Tongue Point. A great bunch of hikers, good food and accommodation – all ’round, an awesome weekend. Thanks John.. – Kerry-Ann, Wilsons Prom 2-Night Private Lodge Adventure

Thanks John for a wonderful walk in the Cathedral Ranges. Everything was well organised and loved your home baked shortbread.
We’ll certainly be looking at other hiking society trips. Let’s you focus on enjoying the walking and the great scenery. – Lisa, Cathedral Ranges Northern Day Adventure

I had a wonderful time exploring some of the less travelled paths of The Grampians with The Hiking Society. John was extremely knowledgeable and very passionate about hiking and the great outdoors. It was a great weekend and I can’t wait to book another trip in the near future. My only regret is not having done this sooner – Lydia via Trip Advisor, Grampians Explorer Overnight Adventure

As a group of 7 old friends, we had so much fun on this beautiful Mt Beauty Gorge Walk weekend. We got to walk and swim in some stunning areas that we would never have done alone, and the fact that John and Kerrie took care of absolutely everything for us just meant we could enjoy every minute. A real hiking/camping experience for want-to-be hikers! – Eliza via Trip Advisor, Mount Beauty Overnight Adventure

The Hiking Society is a small business, not advertised yet to interstate or international travellers, which is probably why it’s so under-represented here on tripadvisor. It tends to be more locals who wouldn’t otherwise explore Victoria or who want to hike more, but don’t want to go by themselves. There’s no reason why travelers can’t take advantage of the unique experience though! The Hiking Society will take you places that most travel companies can’t or won’t. You’ll visit stunning places, quiet trails and meet chilled people as keen to enjoy the outdoors as you are.

It’s a fantastic experience to let John handle all the planning, transport, food and accommodation while you can get on with the fun stuff. – Laura via Trip Advisor, Wilsons Prom 2-Night Private Lodge Adventure

A wonderful way to explore a beautiful part of Australia. The landscapes were ever-changing and the views spectacular. You created a great trip for even modestly experienced hikers like me! The accommodation at the lodge was very comfortable and the food throughout the weekend was sensational. I have enjoyed a few trips with your team now John and they seem to get better and better. Well done on another successful and fun weekend!! – Carla, Wilsons Prom 2-Night Private Lodge Adventure

I have now completed two overnight hikes with The Hiking Society.
John is very professional and makes the hikes not only interesting and challenging but overall safe and friendly.
John has all the correct safety measures in place for himself and the hiker and caters for all level of fitness.
I feel the business provides a unique speciality providing camping gear guides transport and food for those longer hikes.
The hikes offered are varied in location, distance and grades. John can even provide private hiking for friends for a group of 5 or more.
I thoroughly recommend The Hiking Society for those wishing to start their hiking journey or for the regular enthusiasts that are looking for their next challenge. – Natalie via TripAdvisor, Mitchell River 3-Day Adventure

I went on the overnight Mount Beauty hike and had a really fun and relaxing trip.
The waterfalls (see below) and mount buffalo were great on day one.
My favourite part of the trip was the gorge at mount beauty on day 2. This was partly walking over rocks and partly wading through water. A little chilly but it was totally worth it!
I’m an experienced hiker and found there was enough of a variety of terrain to keep things interesting and feeling like an adventure. I never felt unsafe and John / Jason were great at letting everyone go their own pace or wait back if they didn’t feel up to doing a section.
Our group had a range of experience levels but everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and we all got through safely. Would highly recommend. – Ned via TripAdvisor, Mount Beauty Overnight Adventure

The Wilsons Promontory weekend adventure was great. This was my second overnight / multi-day adventure with the Hiking Society and was very well organised, just as the first was. Had previously walked just one part of The Prom and John’s hikes covered new tracks for me. As before John’s knowledge of the area, preparation, catering to hikers of varying abilities & sense of humour made it a great weekend. Lodging was also first-rate, Tombolo Lodge was a great place to be located for the National Park. Would highly recommend joining the Hiking Society for any of their hikes, and definitely this weekend if you’ve never been to The Prom, spectacular scenery on each hike with a wide variety of landscapes. – Michael, Wilsons Prom 2-Night Private Lodge Adventure

What an awesome weekend hiking the Grampians! Something I would never have done on my own. The company was fabulous, the hikes challenging but yet totally do-able, especially with such a competent and trustworthy guide as John. Thanks ‘The Hiking Society’ – I’m looking forward to the next one. – Lisa, Grampians Overnight Adventure

I would highly recommend The Hiking Society to all hikers, experienced or newbies. During our Grampians adventure, John was absolutely fantastic: kind, prepared, knowledgeable and extremely patient, particularly with those of us less experienced. We felt safe at all times and enjoyed all aspects of the adventure. Plus we got to see many kangaroos, which it’s always fascinating. – Nadia, Grampians Overnight Adventure

I had a very good hiking experience at Wilsons Prom with the Hiking Society last weekend. Thanks to John, our organiser and guide, managed everything and looked after everyone well. The two days trip packed with a variety of hiking trails, sceneries, culture and fun, and catered the different hiking needs. Wilsons Prom is absolutely a beautiful place, very worthy to discover. The accommodation “tombolo lodge” is such a spacious and comfortable lodge, perfectly suitable to family and group, for hiking, travelling and holiday. The lodge host, Tom and Tara also looked after us for everything, made a nice dinner for us and played a game with the guests on Saturday evening. That was great fun!

I had a quite good practice of hiking and obtained the experiences that I hoped. Though personally I had a bit sleeping issue, overall I really liked the trip and had a great weekend escape. I will highly recommend the John and Hiking Society to anyone, and hopefully will be able to join the next trip. – Mei, Wilsons Prom 2-Night Lodge Adventure

The Mount Beauty and Rollasons Falls overnight hike was so much fun! It’s great if you want to give hiking or camping a try. I flew down from Sydney and all I took was a couple of changes of clothes in a day bag. The Hiking Society look after you well, do all the driving and cook dinner and breakfast for you! They’re professional, helpful, knowledgeable and prompt to answer any questions you may have. I highly recommend The Hiking Society for your next outdoor adventure! – Sara, Mount Beauty Overnight Adventure

Highly recommend the Hiking Society. John and Jason were amazing, professional, kind, knew their stuff and were pretty awesome to hang out with aswell. (they even did the dishes!)
Our weekend hike with them was outstanding, lots of fun and new friends were made with fellow hikers along the way. (ticking all of my boxes). Thank you for having us. – Jaime and Harry, Mount Beauty Overnight Adventure

My daughter and I had a wonderful day last Friday hiking with John in the Dandenong Ranges. John is professional, friendly and planned the day out well. Looking forward to the next hike! – Natalie, Dandenong Ranges Day Explorer

What a great day in the Dandenongs with The Hiking Society! Will be doing other hikes too – John Feeney is a fantastic guide and the day was really well planned. – Kristen, Dandenong Ranges Day Explorer

Organised, easy going, friendly, fun and exciting. Highly recommend. – Rothany, Grampians Overnight Adventure

Thoroughly enjoyed my first hiking adventure with the hiking society! John is very timely to answer any queries or questions. I took the option of transport which was fantastic & stress-free. Had a great group of hikers of varying levels & I was encouraged & looked out for by John every step of the way. It really felt like I was on a leisurely walk with friends. The scenery was gorgeous (Lerderderg) – I’m signing up for my next hikes now!! Great job! – Emma, Lerderderg Day Adventure

From the first point of contact with The Hiking Society, John was super helpful and generous with his advice. The Warburton Day Adventure was a great mix of hiking and general exploring, with lots of information and tips from John through the day. Transport option was so handy too! 10/10 will be a repeat customer 🙂 Thank you! – Sue, Warburton Day Adventure

Wonderful hike with amazing views. Matt was a supportive and confident guide, his enthusiasm for hiking was contagious! Lots of fun rock scrambling, steep inclines and peak hopping which was breathtaking. Thanks for the experience. – Shadyah, Cathedral Ranges Northern Day Adventure

Had an amazing day hiking the Cathedral Ranges northern circuit with Matt. He was super friendly and a wealth of knowledge about other trails in Victoria. You can tell he truly loves the outdoors and has beautiful photos to prove it! The walk was well organised and ran to time. It really is a spectacular part of Victoria and the hiking society makes this accessible to people with limited experience in the outdoors. Already got my eye on the trip to Mount Beauty 💆🏻‍♀️ Highly recommend The Hiking Society! – Nora, Cathedral Ranges Northern Day Adventure

Awesome 2 days 1 night Grampians hiking with this small group led by John. The Pinnacle circular track was as good as what I expected. What better than a simple BBQ meal served after a long walk.

On the second day, I was not knowing what to expect. It turned out that Mt Rosea track to Sundial Peak was a more challenging one. Since it was forever climbing up with a bit of rock hopping and rock scrambling (so have to stumble a bit during descending – but it was safe). The reward was seeing some amazing rock formation all around. And I was literally walk on, walk under and walk thought those rocks. It was a very enjoyable trip. 2 days well spent and worth the spent. LOL – Leo, Grampians Overnight Adventure

Awesome hike around Werribee Gorge with Kerrie – who had so much knowledge of the area to share. Great value. – Sia, Werribee Gorge Day Adventure

Fantastic long weekend spent in the Grampians thanks to The Hiking Society. We had the perfect mix of challenging hikes, beautiful scenery and plenty of relaxation in one of the most gorgeous parts of Victoria. I know I’ll be back for another adventure soon! – Amelia, Grampians Overnight Adventure

Warburton day hike today: Thanks for a lovely day – great guide, well organised & really enjoyed the group! – Steph, Warburton Day Adventure

Had an awesome hiking experience, would highly recommend it – Amit, Mount Beauty Overnight Adventure

Great experience: Beautiful locations and awesome people – Soren, Mount Beauty Overnight Adventure

I would highly recommend The Hiking Society ++++. It was serendipitous that I booked a guided hike (we did Mt Macedon!!! OMG!). The guide, John, was Ab Fab, cheerful, optimistic and very supportive – we did climb up & up, to The Cross, then Camel’s Hump, then the lake and up to Mt Towrong. The walk info was accurate, John kept perfectly to time, kept me fed, ‘watered’ and rested – the views were a bonus!! John was an excellent source of information, clearly enthusiastic & experienced – which was exactly what I needed…I can proudly say that “I did it!!” thanks to The Hiking Society.
First Time Hiker Rita.
…Actually looking forward to booking more hikes this year and onwards, some of the others sound great too. – Rita, Mount Macedon Day Adventure

Wow! What a weekend! Stunning scenery, great walks with awesome swimming holes, a phenomenal sunset location and knowledgeable and supportive guides; it was a fantastic introduction to the Alpine Region of Victoria. If you love being out in nature, you will love this trip. – Jess, Mount Beauty Overnight Adventure
