Fun day hike with Kerrie at Werribee Gorge. I felt she was supportive no matter the level of hiking ability, patient and allowed space for quiet enjoyment which is one goal when hiking! Also, John has been so helpful and communicates generously when prompted. thoroughly recommend!!

“A great day trip! Warburton was the perfect blend of walking through pristine temperate forests, drinking great coffee and chilling out amongst the giant Redwoods.”

From the first point of contact with The Hiking Society, John was super helpful and generous with his advice. The Warburton Day Adventure was a great mix of hiking and general exploring, with lots of information and tips from John through the day. Transport option was so handy too! 10/10 will be a repeat customer 🙂 Thank you!

I would highly recommend The Hiking Society ++++. It was serendipitous that I booked a guided hike (we did Mt Macedon!!! OMG!). The guide, John, was Ab Fab, cheerful, optimistic 😁 and very supportive – we did climb up & up, to The Cross, then Camel’s Hump, then the lake and up Mt Towrong. The walk info was accurate, John kept perfectly to time, kept me fed, ‘watered’ and rested – the views were a bonus!! John was an excellent source of information, clearly enthusiastic & experienced – which was …

Thoroughly enjoyed my first hiking adventure with the hiking society! John is very timely to answer any queries or questions. I took the option of transport which was fantastic & stress-free. Had a great group of hikers of varying levels & I was encouraged & looked out for by John every step of the way. It really felt like I was on a leisurely walk with friends. The scenery was gorgeous (Lerderderg) – I’m signing up for my next hikes now!! Great job! 😁

Yesterday marked the first MeetUp hike for The Hiking Society where I was fortunate enough to take eight others on a 19.5km hike through a section of The Walk Into History trail in Warburton. This particular section involved walking through dense forest from Starlings Gap campground to New Federal Pass and back again. Starlings Gap...Read More
In what can only be described as sweltering conditions, The Hiking Society MeetUp Group spent last Sunday walking the Olinda Creek Walking Track. Starting at the Silvan Overflow Car Park, this 9.8km return hike led us along a simple path to the Mount Evelyn Recreation Reserve. The car park is located opposite to the Silvan Reservoir...Read More
Despite the fact that Warburton is one of my favourite hiking places in Victoria, the Ada Tree Walk has eluded me for some time. But, after this weekend, this Grade 2 walk eludes me no longer. I had the pleasure of leading the MeetUp group’s first parents and kids hike for 2018 along this 3.5km...Read More
If there’s one thing that us Australian hikers and campers love to do, it’s take off on an overseas adventure and explore the many places that the world has to offer. One overseas location, in particular, that we Australian outdoor enthusiasts tend to visit is New Zealand. I’ve been a few times now myself and...Read More
The great thing about Olinda, and the RJ Hamer Arboretum, is that there are so many tracks and trails to walk. You can literally make up whatever track you want. Last weekend, I took a group out from the Meetup group to walk from the Valley Picnic Ground to Eagles Nest Picnic Ground and back....Read More
