Organised and experienced guides provided a fun and challenging weekend which I would highly recommend.
Great experience: Beautiful locations and awesome people!
Fun day hike with Kerrie at Werribee Gorge. I felt she was supportive no matter the level of hiking ability, patient and allowed space for quiet enjoyment which is one goal when hiking! Also, John has been so helpful and communicates generously when prompted. thoroughly recommend!!
Fantastic long weekend spent in the Grampians thanks to The Hiking Society. We had the perfect mix of challenging hikes, beautiful scenery and plenty of relaxation in one of the most gorgeous parts of Victoria. I know I’ll be back for another adventure soon!
Awesome 2 days 1 night Grampians hiking with this small group led by John. The Pinnacle circular track was as good as what I expected. What better than a simple BBQ meal served after a long walk.
On the second day, I was not knowing what to expect. It turned out that Mt Rosea track to Sundial Peak was a more challenging one. Since it was forever climbing up with a bit of rock hopping and rock scrambling (so have to stumble a bit during descending – but it was safe). The reward was seeing some a…
Wow! What a weekend! Stunning scenery, great walks with awesome swimming holes, a phenomenal sunset location and knowledgeable and supportive guides; it was a fantastic introduction to the Alpine Region of Victoria. If you love being out in nature, you will love this trip.
Had an awesome hiking experience, would highly recommend it
I would highly recommend The Hiking Society ++++. It was serendipitous that I booked a guided hike (we did Mt Macedon!!! OMG!). The guide, John, was Ab Fab, cheerful, optimistic 😁 and very supportive – we did climb up & up, to The Cross, then Camel’s Hump, then the lake and up Mt Towrong. The walk info was accurate, John kept perfectly to time, kept me fed, ‘watered’ and rested – the views were a bonus!! John was an excellent source of information, clearly enthusiastic & experienced – which was …
Warburton day hike today: Thanks for a lovely day – great guide, well organised & really enjoyed the group!
“A great day trip! Warburton was the perfect blend of walking through pristine temperate forests, drinking great coffee and chilling out amongst the giant Redwoods.”

It’s not a hero’s story as much as we, as a society, love to hear them. It’s an everyday person’s story, the one, that emerges from the mud and turns into a beautiful lotus. But not because of some magic happening, but because of the willingness to recognise the mud and lotus as equally important, as...Read More
It was on this day in 2015 that myself and three others began our 10 day, 240km trek across New Zealand from the filming location of Hobbiton in Matamata to the filming location of Mount Doom (Mt. Ngaurahoe) on the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. Now, as you can probably imagine, this is not a hike (or...Read More
We woke on the morning of January 3rd, 2016 to the sound of more rain. In fact, it hadn’t stopped all night. At this point, we had come so far – 180kms to be exact – that we were over caring about things like wet clothes and the like. After breaking camp, and before really...Read More
A 45-minute drive north of Moe lies the picturesque Mushroom Rocks in a section of the Baw Baw National Park. As part of the Australian Alpine Walking Track, Mushroom Rocks is also close to Mount Erica and Talbot Peak. Which is where some of the members of The Hiking Society Meetup found themselves last weekend. And...Read More
The first section of the Walk Into History trail in Warburton, Victoria, the return track from Big Pats Creek to Starlings Gap is your typical bushland area. An 18km round trek, the trail is a gentle incline from campground to campground. If you’ve ever been out that way before for a look around, you’ll know...Read More
