Get away from the crowds of some of the more popular hikes in the Grampians and join us for our Explorer Overnight Adventure where you’ll see a completely different side to one of the most visited adventure locations in Victoria.
Jump aboard our Toyota HiAce as we pick you up from Melbourne and take a cruisey drive out to the Grampians with those all-important coffee stops along the way, and have some lunch in Halls Gap. Starting off with Boronia Peak (9kms; elevation gain of 300m), we’ll follow a bushland path along the base of the Mount William Range before ascending slowly on a rocky staircase to the base of Boronia Peak. To get to the summit, you’ll need to scramble for a short distance but trust us when we say that the 360 degree views are absolutely worth the effort. You’ll be able to see Halls Gap, Mount William, Lake Bellfield, The Pinnacle, and Chatauqua Peak from the summit of Boronia Peak.
The fun doesn’t finish there. We’ll make our way back down to the Halls Gap Caravan Park where we’ll cook up a delicious BBQ dinner for you and then make our way to Boroka Lookout for sunset. It’s one of the best places to view the entire Halls Gap area as well as the ridge line of the Pinnacle Walk and other various highlights in the area.
On Sunday, we’ll be up early for a breakfast of bacon and egg rolls, various cereals, juice and coffee/tea before packing up and heading off to the nearby Chatauqua Peak (6kms; elevation gain of 200m) where we’ll slowly ascend to the rocky peak whilst stopping off at the various lookouts and Clematis Falls along the way. This really is one of the most underrated hikes in the Grampians National Park. We’ll head back to Halls Gap to get some lunch before heading back to Melbourne.
Optional – depending on how the group is feeling, we may hike to Chatauqua Peak in time for sunrise. If we do, we will return to the Halls Gap Caravan Park for breakfast. We’ll then drive over to Mackenzies Falls to have a look around there before coming back to Halls Gap for lunch before heading home.
Accommodation is single or twin-share tents at the Halls Gap Caravan Park. Please be advised that we have limited single person tents so it’ll be based on a first come, first serve basis. The caravan park has a number of amenities including various kitchens, toilets, shower blocks and more available for you to use.
***Guests are permitted to bring an overnight bag and day pack with them on this adventure***
