Keen to take that next step from day adventures into overnight adventures but not really sure where to start? Or perhaps you’re not sure where to go or don’t have the gear?
Our Grampians Intro Into Overnight Hiking is a great way to get a taste for what it’s like to go camping whilst also enjoying a variety of hikes in a fantastic location in Victoria.
We’ll not only provide you with transport but we’ll also provide you with a sleeping bag & mat, tent, meals, snack, fresh fruit and water.
Day One – The Pinnacle via Sundial Car Park
After arriving at our accommodation for the weekend at the Halls Gap Caravan Park and setting up our tents, we’ll drive up to the Sundial Car Park and then make our way to undoubtedly the most popular location in the Grampians – The Pinnacle. You’ll get some incredible views of Halls Gap and the wider region from the many rock formations that exist at the lookout.
From here, we’ll make our way over to Boroka Lookout where once again you’ll enjoy some spectacular views as we enjoy a delicious BBQ dinner whilst watching what will almost certainly be an amazing sunset.
Day Two – Chatauqua Peak Loop Walk
Once we’ve had breakfast and packed up all the tents into the van, we’ll drive to the trailhead of the Chatauqua Peak Loop Walk. One of the more underrated walks in the Grampians National Park, this near-on 6km walk offers impressive views of the Elephant Hide rock formation, Clematis Falls, Boronia Peak, The Pinnacle and Halls Gap.
Please note that the short section to the peak itself will require some reasonable scrambling over rocks but it is certainly passable by those with some bushwalking experience and those who have experienced rock scrambling before.
Once we have finished this hike, we will make our way into Halls Gap where you’ll have access to the many cafes, ice creameries and shops to choose your lunch from before we head back to Melbourne.
On day one, you may bring your lunch with you or purchase lunch from any of the cafes or shops in Halls Gap.
*Please make all known dietary requirements known in the Additional Notes section during the booking process*
***Guests are strictly permitted to bring ONE small/medium sized bag only to contain their personal belongings in***
We deem both hikes to be Grade Threes hike in accordance with the Australian Walking Track Grading System which refers to a track that “is recommended for people with some bushwalking experience”.
